 2011 Club Race Schedule

UCI race regulations

Club races are a lot of fun.  All members of the club may participate in the club races, and there are no race entry fees for club members.  Non-club members are welcome to participate in club races, but they must hold an Alberta Bicycling Association (ABA) license and be of masters age (30+).  Non club members are required to pay $5 to enter a club race for insurance purposes.

A race may be cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions or lack of participation.  The race organizer will make the final decision on whether a race will be held.  If a race is cancelled, it usually will not be rescheduled.

Additionally there are races organized by the Alberta Bicycling Association (ABA) -  see the ABA race schedule.  In order to compete in an ABA race, you will need either an annual ABA license or a Race Day License (RDL).  The RDL is ideal for riders who want to try racing and gain experience without committing to a full year ABA licence. There are some limitations regarding the number of events and type of events so check the ABA website for details.

For more information on bicycle racing rules and regulations, including ability and age categories, refer to the CCA Rulebook.

Please note the following ABA regulations:

  1. Crankmasters club members must wear the Crankmasters jersey during ABA races.  In addition, it is strongly recommended that Crankmasters club members also wear the Crankmasters jersey during club races.
  2. All new Masters licensees, regardless of age or gender, will be placed in Category 5.  If a Masters rider has previously raced in Category 1/2, 3. or 4, the current category will be retained unless the rider requests, in writing to the ABA, a downgrade to Category 5.
  3. ABA single event licenses will only be available for the ABA Individual Time Trial series, and will no longer be offered for road races, team time trials or criteriums.  If you are contemplating racing road, team time trial or criterium races, you must get a full ABA license.

In order to participate in club races, all racers will have to sign a waiver.  It would be most helpful to bring a pre-signed copy of the waiver to the event.
