*** CANCELLED *** WNS Series 1, Race 3: Road Race

  This hilly, fun course builds on the fitness gained in this season’s previous WNS races. It consists of 1-3 loops depending on category travelling clockwise. Elevation change is 105m. Enjoy a terrific hill shortly after you enter 192 St S. Keep focused so you don’t get dropped. At the top, glance at the scenery, but pull over if you need to savour it, remember you’re in the ‘world championships’ and other riders will want to pass!

  Take extra care at the fast 242 Ave corner, the road has partly disintegrated to gravel. At Hwy 22 stay on the shoulder – the highway traffic is speedy and busy. Smooth pavement on the shoulder will encourage a brisk pace. Finally, on the flats just before the last hill descending to the parking area is the finish line.

  Here are the details:

  • Parking:  Highways 22x and 22 SE corner pull out – big field to park in.
  • Course: 23 Km loop. Start Hwy 22 N, E on 22x, S on 192 St SW (Rge Rd 30), W on 242 Ave W, N on Hwy 22.
  • Sign up in parking lot: 6-6:20 pm
  • Race start: 6:30 pm
    • Category As first, then at 2 minute intervals: Bs, Ws, Cs
  • Minimum 6 riders per category required:
    • A – 3 laps – 69 km
    • B – 2 laps – 46 km
    • C – 1 lap – 23 km
    • W – 1 lap – 23 km

   

  Caution:

  • Obey all traffic laws!
  • Keep to the right, do not stray into traffic lane.
  • Extreme CAUTION on corners, SE corner (192 St at 242 Ave) is gravel, other corners have gravel too!
  • 192 St and 242 Ave are rough roads, watch for gravel, potholes and other hazards.
